Celebrating the end of the month of Ramadan fasting last night, the night before Idul Fitri, hundreds (thousands?) of muezzin at mosques across Jakarta simultaneously chanted via loudspeaker while fireworks exploded out of seemingly every street or alley in the city and drums pounded constantly...
The din was pretty amazing... while the city was pretty ghost-towny during the day, it was bumpin' at night for sure, despite the fact that 7 million people vacated the city this week.
