Blue Lakes and the Tasman Glacier

After our hike through Hooker Valley, we did a quick jaunt to see the Blue Lakes and another glacier, Tasman Glacier (be prepared for many glacier blog posts, folks).

The Blue Lakes are not blue, but, rather, green.  A very pretty green:

Tasman Glacier has a very cloudy glacial lake in front of it, like Hooker Glacier.

Apparently Tasman Glacier is New Zealand's longest glacier (although it, like most of the other glaciers, is receding at an alarming rate) at 27 km long.  You can just see the end of it (covered in dirt) at the edge of the water here:

Sick of glaciers and glacial lakes yet?  I hope not.
